Welcome to the South Suburban Park and Recreation Professional Association website! Formed in 1974, the SSPRPA is an organization of active park districts and recreation agencies of Chicago's south suburban metropolitan area. The main goal of the SSPRPA is to serve all communities in this area through better parks and recreation. It is believed through professional ties and exchange of ideas established by the membership in the SSPRPA that individual park and recreation agencies will benefit by improved recreational and leisure services.

Kankakee Kayak/Canoe Trip
Ahoy South Suburban Members!
We’ll be taking to the Kankakee River on Wednesday, September 16th for a fun filled day with your fellow recreation professionals. All boaters will need to meet at Reed’s Canoe Trips (907 N Indiana Ave, Kankakee, IL 60901) at 9:00AM. The river trip will take 4-5 hours, depending on the water level. We will stop at the American Legion on the river for lunch about halfway through the trip. We expect to finish around 3-3:30PM.
In order to insure accurate pricing (the more boats we rent the cheaper the rate) and that everyone has a boating buddy, we ask that you RSVP for the trip by taking the survey at the link below. If you are planning to use a canoe or double kayak, we will need to know who you are sharing with.
RSVPs are due by Friday, September 9th. Once we finalize pricing we will follow up with a payment link. If you RSVP, you will be responsible for paying the fee.
Tentative Pricing
Canoe - $69 ($35.50 per person)
Kayak - $54
Tandem Kayak - $84 ($42 per person)
BYOB (Bring Your Own Boat) - $30
